# Installation

> Install the PandaProbe Python or TypeScript SDK and configure your environment

### Prerequisites

* Python 3.10 or later for the Python SDK, or Node.js 18 or later for the TypeScript SDK
* A PandaProbe account with an API key

<Note>
  Some optional provider and framework packages require a newer Node.js version. Follow the engine requirements of the integrations you install.
</Note>

Minimum required setup for both SDKs:

```bash theme={null}
export PANDAPROBE_API_KEY="your-api-key"
export PANDAPROBE_PROJECT_NAME="my-project"
```

<Tip>
  You can also configure the SDK programmatically with Python's `pandaprobe.init(...)` or TypeScript's `init({...})`. See [Project Configuration](/tracing/configuration/project-configuration).
</Tip>

For the full list of variables, see [Environment Variables](/tracing/configuration/environment-variables).
